Beauty boredom

Morning! I’m being super lazy this morning – that’s what Saturday’s are for! I went on a bit of a shopping spree the other day. Well actually I went to Sephora to buy a mascara and about a million dollars later, I left. So I thought I’d show off some of my purchases because it’s spring time and it’s a good time to spruce things up/ throw things away/try new things.

Let’s start with the Nails Inc polish. It’s my new favourite nail polish, this particular Nails Inc line has kale in it… Good for your salad and your nails! It goes on so nicely and the brush is amazing. There are a lot of different, beautiful colours to pick from. This is Mayfair Lane.

Next up is the Sephora Smart Liner. I’m pretty challenged when it comes to doing winger liner so I thought I’d give it a try. It works really well. It’s get when I start work at 1am and barely have the energy/skills to dress myself, never mind do makeup. I promise I’ll take a picture of it when I’m wearing it soon to show you. For now, here’s a picture if it and the cool design.  And then there is that mascara I went to buy. I alternate between this Make Up For Ever one and the Lancôme Hypnose. I like both equally but like to change it up.  This last piece of the puzzle is the Benefit Dallas bronzer. I likeit becuase it’s not too much and it’s nice enough to wear with just a bit of mascara on those days you don’t want to or have time to do a lot of makeup.   These brushes are amazing! I didn’t get them from Sephora but you can find them just about anywhere. They are Real Techniques by the amazing Sam and Nic Chapman, the ladies behind Pixiwoo – checkout the site!   Anyway that’s all I have for now. I should go do something productive now. Do you have a new favourite beauty product? I’m always looking for new things. Just a note … I know some of the links aren’t working and I’m trying to fix them!

The art of saying ‘Thanks’

Good morning!

Hope you’re well and getting ready for Easter! I should be cleaning my house but instead I’m snuggled up in bed with a cup of tea and Jamie Oliver … well kind of 😉

Jamie Oliver’s Great Britain

I’m trying to think of something fun to make for Easter dinner, I thought this would be a good place for some inspiration. Unfortunately the only Easter thing I’ve done so far is put together this cute little guy.

cute little fella eh?

Anyway, I got a thank you card in the mail yesterday. It was for attending an out-of-town surprise birthday party a few weekends ago. I do appreciate a good thank you card and I feel they don’t get sent often enough these days.

A nice surprise

I have a friend who never sends thank you notes. I was a bridesmaid in her destination wedding. I never got a thank you card – and I know our other friends didn’t either. That’s in poor taste if you ask me. Last year they had a baby. I asked her recently if she sent her thank you cards to her shower guests yet, knowing full well what the answer would be. She said no because she doesn’t have everyone’s address. That’s quite possibly the lamest excuse I’ve ever heard! They don’t have to be sent by mail, especially if you see the person often. Or you know, you could always ask for their address!

So when is it appropriate to send a card?

– Weddings, wedding shower, engagement party, baby shower or baby gifts given outside the shower! a particularly extravagant birthday or Christmas present. When someone has gone out of their way to do something for you. You get the idea! Below is a link to a Hallmark site the offers some great tips on how to write your cards.

Tips on Thank Yous

I keep a stack of note cards at home just in case I need one. I think I got these at the dollar store.

They don’t cost a lot but it will mean a lot to whoever you send one to!
